  • Built by NBI, a Webuild Group company, the new “P. Zuffardi” high school will accommodate up to 250 students from the Luigi Malerba Institute
  • The project involved replacing an existing building and putting into a single complex all high school students A next-generation, highly energy-efficient building designed to reduce energy consumption and emissions while improving the quality of the learning environment

FORNOVO DI TARO (Parma), September 14, 2026 – NBI, a Webuild Group company, inaugurated the new “P. Zuffardi” high school in Fornovo di Taro (Parma), built under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (“PNRR” in Italian) and completed on schedule. The ceremony was attended by Italian Minister for European Affairs, PNRR and Cohesion Policies Tommaso Foti, local authorities and NBI’s top management. NBI completely reconstructed the existing building, designed to accommodate up to 250 students and bring together all high school classes under one roof. The classes were previously in two separate buildings.

The project involved the demolition of an existing building and its reconstruction on the same site, consuming no additional land. The new three-storey building has room for 12 classrooms designed according to the latest school construction standards. The reorganisation of the premises has made it possible to dedicate the adjacent “Pizzi” school building to specialised activities, workshops and administrative functions, enhancing the overall value and efficiency of the entire school complex.

Designed in accordance with NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) standards, the new school achieves energy efficiency levels more than 20 percent higher than regulatory requirements, thanks to high-efficiency heat pumps, controlled mechanical ventilation with heat recovery systems, and a 29kW photovoltaic installation on the roof. Thanks to these solutions, more than 65 percent of the energy needed for heating, cooling and domestic hot water is supplied by renewable sources, while a significant share of the energy required to operate the school will be generated directly on site.

For Webuild and NBI, the “Zuffardi” school confirms the Group’s ability to deliver social infrastructure projects on schedule while combining construction quality with outstanding energy efficiency.
