The 2.4 km long first section of the Como Ring-Road was inaugurated, linking Grandate and Como. This new road is an extension of Section A of the Foothills Road System and the Varese Ring-Road, all part of the Lombardy Foothills Road System which upon completion will streamline traffic flow connecting the provinces of Varese, Como, Monza, Milan and Bergamo, and decongest traffic along the A4 motorway.
